Wei Sun co-founded ProtonMail at CERN in 2013. He built the first version from scratch - the encryption system, database, the whole stack. They reached hundreds of thousands of users within three months of beta, and sit at over 5M today.

He spent 7+ years at Google as a founding engineer on Data Commons, the world's largest knowledge graph powering Search. Also worked in ATAP (Google's secretive projects group) and on OpenFermion, their quantum computing library, later joining OpenAI through Dec. 2025.

Sun was an MIT PhD under Nobel Laureate Samuel Ting, hunting dark matter on the largest experiment aboard the ISS. Before that, he served on a NASA mission for Shuttle Endeavor's final flight. Originally from Shandong, China, he’s quietly touched some of the biggest projects in modern tech.

He’s just entered stealth. But with a track record spanning cryptography, knowledge graphs, quantum computing, and frontier AI - including building one of the internet's most important privacy tools from scratch - it would be absurd not to pay attention.
